[Inkscape-user] Problem with super and sub scripts

I am a new new user of Inkscape and am having trouble getting super and
sub scripts in my text. When in text mode, highlighting text and
clicking the super or sub script icon all text in the text box to
dissapear. If I click the icon a second time the text reappears but
at an extremely large font size of over 30,and still no super- or
subscript. I am using windows 7 home on one computer and windows 7 pro
on another and both give the same results with Inkscape versions .48
and .92. Has anyone else seen this problem? I can get the super or sub
scripts by manually moving the letter up or down but it takes a bit longer.

If anyone has a solution to this, even an operator error solution would
be very welcome.

Thanks!

I've tested this with both regular and flowed text, but I can't reproduce it.
When I click the super or subscript buttons, the highlighted text becomes super
or subscript. Clicking the button a 2nd time acts like a toggle, and makes it
regular text as before. (Clicking a 3rd time sets it super/sub again. Etc.)

In playing around with super and subscripts, I've come across a couple of
problems which would seem to be bugs (although I haven't searched whether
they've been reported or not). But so far, I haven't come across anything like
what you've described.

Have you notice whether this is happening with only a particular font? If so,
and if the font is free and you can provide a download link, I'll be glad to
install and test it.

Could you try it using some different fonts? I've tried 3 or 4, but still can't
reproduce what you described.

Sometimes text will seem to disappear from the text box (text box usually
indicates flowed text) if the box is too small for the text to fit. But I've
tried that too, and still don't see what you've described.

Is this text that you've imported into Inkscape? Or the text is in an SVG file
that you downloaded from somewhere, and have no idea where the text came from?
It could be something about that imported text (or text of unknown source)
that's not responding properly to Inkscape. If that's the case, and you could
provide a sample in an SVG file, some of us might be able to examine it and
possibly find out what the problem is.

Although it seems to me not likely that would be fixable, we'll never know until
we can test it.

All best,
brynn
