Greetings.

I am a neophyte with inkscape. But I wonder if there is an easy way
to generate a logo simillar to the mailman logo:

Anybody have some tips on how to create the nice waves and the texture?

Draw the curves with the bezier tool, the circle with the circle tool,
put the text in as you want it and use a pattern fill with an
appropriate colored paper texture bitmap for everything.
(google search for paper texture returns quite a few)

Draw the curves with the bezier tool, the circle with the circle tool,
I would use a thick stroke, convert it to shape and simplify, to get
something not that uniform.

Is not that realistic, but as a complete vector solution this is a
posibility: Loading Image...

Also very useful is the "Radius randomize" extension. I recently used
it to get a very realistic "stamp on paper". Use it with "Add nodes"
extension twice, for example:

- Add nodes 10px, radius randomize 2px
- Add nodes 1px, radius randomize 0.3px

Simplify according to taste, and add some small blotches and dots with
calligraphic. Looks very nice and is completely vector.

Mmm... I fail to understand you. I enabled the Effect menu, but do not
find a "Add nodes" extension there.

Also, I fail to see what you suggest could create the "texture". Or are
you talking of another effect?

Still, thanks for your input.

Sorry, it's probably too recent and not in 0.42. Aaron?

I was talking about adding texture to the edges of the shapes, not to
the background. For that, you can use an imported bitmap.

Greetings.

I cannot figure how to create a perfect half circle (stroke only),
nicely snapped to the grid, i.e. one end snapped, middle snapped and
last end snapped.

I have set the Doc props to "snap points to grid" but to no avail.
The points in the circle do not snap. So it is very difficult for me to
get a nice perfect half circle.

Is this object still an ellipse or converted to path?
